DR. BRODY’S BIOGRAPHY

STEVEN A. BRODY, MD, PhD – LA IVF CLINICS

Steven A. Brody, MD, Ph.D. is the Medical Director of LA IVF – San Diego and one of the most sought-after reproductive endocrinologists in the country. He was born in Belle Harbor, New York, and attained a bachelor’s degree from Brown University. He then went to Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri, where he was awarded his medical doctor degree.

Dr. Brody is the only physician in the United States who has been Board Certified in four different areas of specialty: internal medicine, endocrinology and metabolism, obstetrics and gynecology, and reproductive endocrinology and infertility.

Dr. Brody has been certified in these areas of expertise by the Yale-New Haven Hospital, National Institutes of Health, Stanford University School of Medicine, and Baylor College of Medicine, respectively. Dr. Brody has used the skills learned at these institutions to treat cancer patients at the Yale-New Haven Hospital and to deliver hundreds of babies at Stanford Medical Center. Dr. Brody is a recipient of the William Osler Award, named for the father of American Medicine.

Dr. Brody has proven himself equally capable as an educator, having spent nine years as an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of California, San Diego. He has served as a Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Public Health Service, as the Director of IVF at Alvarado Hospital, and he was a board member of the San Diego County Medical Society. These accomplishments demonstrate Dr. Brody’s tremendous versatility as a medical professional and expert.

Dr. Brody has contributed to numerous professional organizations and assisted in the publication of many scholarly articles. In this capacity, Dr. Brody’s activities have not been limited by geography. While lecturing in Moscow, Dr. Brody performed hands-on surgical demonstrations that were telecast live to local physicians. Additionally, Dr. Brody has taught and lectured in Peru, Colombia, Ukraine, Russia, and Japan.

Dr. Brody’s first textbook “Endocrine Disorders in Pregnancy” was written while he was at Stanford University School of Medicine. He later co-authored the textbook, “Principles and Practice of Assisted Human Reproduction” with Dr. Robert G. Edwards, the 2010 recipient of the Nobel Prize in Medicine for the discovery of IVF.

As a proponent of women’s health and as an advocate for the effective access to healthcare for all people, Dr. Brody has appeared on numerous radio, television, and other programs to bring his experiences as a doctor and educator to the broadest audience possible. By far, however, Dr. Brody’s proudest accomplishment is the relationship he shares with his two wonderful children, his son David and his daughter Katie.
