Process for IUI

IUI involves placing specially prepared sperm directly into the uterus during ovulation to increase your chances of pregnancy. IUI is often recommended because it is less invasive and more affordable than In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) while still offering strong success rates for many patients.

How Does IUI Work?

Ovulation is monitored

The first step is determining the most fertile time for treatment. This may happen
through bloodwork, ultrasounds and fertility medications that help stimulate egg
development.

Sperm is collected and prepared

A sperm sample is collected from a partner or donor and processed in a laboratory
through a technique called sperm washing. This removes debris and isolates the
healthiest, most motile sperm for insemination.

Sperm is placed into the uterus

During the IUI procedure, a thin catheter is inserted through the cervix to place the
prepared sperm directly into the uterus around the time of ovulation. The procedure
typically takes only a few minutes and is minimally invasive.
